reference laboratory.Position Summary:As a Histotechnologist you
will work under general direction to precisely and accurately
performing a variety of routine and specialized histology
techniques and procedures. In this role, you will receive
specimens, prepare them for testing and analysis, and perform
filing to finish the case. You will research, troubleshoot, and
resolve histology related inquiries and problems within the
laboratory. This position requires you to produce the highest
quality of embedding, microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue
processing, and H staining, special staining and equipment
maintenance.Receive specimens of tissue and ensure proper
accessioning and labeling of all tissue samplesProcess paperwork
associated with accessioning and reportingPrepare tissue specimens
with chemicals, slicing, and mounting on glass slides for
microscopic examination and analysisEmbed processed tissue in
paraffinPerform coverslipping of stained slides either manually or
automatedHelps maintain acceptable productivity, TAT and
workflowReports problems concerning individual cases, tests,
equipment, and supplies to the department supervisor or lead
technologist to ensure timely resolutionResponds promptly to
pathologists, technologists, and administrative requestsResponsible
for maintaining the laboratory in a clean, functional state, as
well as cleaning, performing or scheduling equipment and instrument
maintenance/calibration/certificationDemonstrate initiative in
making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity and
provides consistent feedbackAide in preparing the laboratory for
inspections from regulatory institutionsQualification
Requirements:Nationally: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) requiredKnowledge
of laboratory techniquesAbility to communicate effectivelyGood
social skills and attention to detailMotivated to maintain
production and quality standardsWilling to work in a biohazard
environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in
the Safety ManualGood visual acuity including color perception
required for certain departmentsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds All
