Job Description Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: This position
supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to
strengthening community through youth development, healthy living
and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Sports
Director, and Sports Coordinator, the Sport Instructor I staff will
be responsible for the general management of all practice
activities at their location. Responsibilities include but are not
limited to set-up and take-down of practice equipment, aiding the
coaches if and when needed, and transport of equipment to off-site
locations. The Sport I staff is responsible for maintaining an open
and ongoing communication with the Sports director and Coordinator,
as well as maintaining the YMCA level of professionalism with
staff, coaches, parents, and participants POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES: Set-up, supervise, aid, and take-down the
practices at your location. Assist coaches wherever possible with
their practice to help build players skills. Supervise and notify
sports director and/or coordinator of any problems observed during
a practice or that would pertain to the sports department. Maintain
the equipment and game day bags and keep them in good condition
Inform the sports director or coordinator of any equipment that
needs to be replaced or that has gone missing. Keep ALL equipment
storage areas used by Sports clean to the best of your abilities.
Working knowledge of the YMCA's emergency procedures, and being
able to implement these procedures in the event of an emergency.
Monitor the quality, quantity, appearance, maintenance, and storage
of all supplies and equipment needed for the program. Establish and
maintain a positive relationship with all staff, peers, YMCA
members, program participants, and the general public. Attend all
staff meetings, and bi-weekly meetings with the Sports Director.
Adhere to all regulations in accordance to state laws and
requirements. Follow all safety, blood borne, and child abuse
prevention guidelines. Effectively communicate verbally and in
writing with coaches, and staff. Wear appropriate uniform and
nametag. What We Look for in a Sport Assistant: Must be 18 years of
age or older and possess a high school diploma/GED Ability to plan,
organize and implement age- appropriate/developmentally appropriate
program activities. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a
range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. At
least one year experience with diverse populations. Ability to
develop positive, authentic relationships with people from
different backgrounds. Understands the YMCA is a public

Background Check: Once a conditional offer is made, candidates will
