Together, we will become the world's leading cancer reference laboratory.Position Summary:As the Lead Lab Assistant you will work under supervision to support Pharma Anatomic Pathology laboratory studies and functional lab and quality initiatives including (but not limited to): Allocation of tasks to other lab assistants, developing and implementing process improvements, supporting client facing activities (meetings and audits) and quality control tasks.Additionally, you will support the Pharma AP Supervisor of Operations and Manager of Pharma Services by providing employee training and mentoring as needed, help to prepare daily/weekly work assignments, develop and monitor department metrics and perform other duties as assigned.Responsibilities:Works closely with Supervisor/Manager or Project/Lab Managers to accurately and efficiently address project needs.Provides expert guidance in sample receiving and case setup processes and tasks; May allocate tasks and coach team members.Provides expert guidance with the operation and execution of the department LIMS software systemSupports initiatives within Quality, process development and lab information systems, working closely with function leaders.Ensures all samples received in the department for laboratory testing are processed in a timely manner and samples received with any issues preventing testing are investigated and resolvedDrives communication of all procedure changes pertaining to sample processing and systems to other lab assistantsExperience & Required Qualifications:Education: Associates degree at minimum, Bachelors degree strongly preferredThree (3) years functional or laboratory experience.Proven track record or expertise in the assigned area preferred.Proficient with MS Office programsAbility to communicate effectivelyGood social skills and attention to detailMotivated to work independently and within a team environmentWilling to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety ManualWillingness to work any shift which can include nights and weekends
