Position: Histology Technologist III - Lead HistotechnologistLocation: Aliso Viejo, CADuration: Full Time / Permanent / Direct Hire Shift Openings: Tues-Sat 9pm-5:30am.Sign-on Bonus offered / Relocation Bonus offeredLooking for a Lead Histotechnologist who works under little or no supervision and demonstrates proficiency in all Core Responsibilities of a Histotechnologist III.Job Duties:

• Must show strength in all Core Responsibilities of a Histotechnologist III
• In the absence of the Supervisor, performs necessary supervisory functions
• Assists in supervising technical personnel by monitoring workflow to meet testing schedules; distributing and reviewing work assignments; scheduling; training employees on company and laboratory policies, procedures, techniques and on equipment; resolving work related problems of staff; and providing input for performance appraisals and disciplinary actions
• Leads and implements project improvements within the department
• Reviews and supervises the documentation and daily completion of performance verification criteria of tests, reagents and equipment
• Reviews QA and QC records in accordance with departmental procedures
• Works closely with the department Supervisor in the monitoring and correction of trends and problems in equipment operation, reagent usage and test procedures performance
• Performs advanced troubleshooting skills in instruments, reagents, and procedural problems
• Generates incident reports when appropriate and corrective action log for reagents, equipment
• Recommends and institutes corrective action promptly, if not immediately, following a qualified incident, potential problems, or corporate recommendation
• Expedites the flow of work to maximize capacity by evaluating systems and recommending enhancements and coordinating the resolution of production problems/issues involving other departments
• Reviews department activities to ensure compliance with departmental polices and federal, state and local regulations
• Assists with the departments' annual competency testing process and documentationRequirements:
  • Degree: Associates degree in the field and complete a one year internship or complete a long-term training program in a histopathology laboratory: Required
  • Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP): Required
  • Experience: 6+ years equivalent experience as a Histotechnologist preferred
  • Advanced understanding of general laboratory techniques with emphasis on department specific techniques
  • Possesses appropriate computer skills to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively
