The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing
tooling solutions that support advanced manufacturing technologies
necessary for the overall long term production goals of the product
and will contribute to the fabrication of prototype and flight test
vehicles. The role will assist in the creation of standard
processes and procedures within the field, while collaborating with
the design/manufacturing teams throughout conceptual, preliminary,
and detail design phases. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates
with the airframe design and manufacturing teams to incorporate a
design for manufacturing philosophy and will be integral in
transitioning the tool designs to the production environment. What
you can do:
- Develop manufacturing planning, emphasizing tooling technology
and its transition into a production environment
- Support the fabrication efforts for prototype and flight test
vehicles
- Interface with all engineering teams (e.g., design, stress,
materials & process) to ensure design for manufacturing principles
are properly applied
- Identify and manage tooling needs, procurement, setup,
verification, commissioning, and maintenance
- Develop manufacturing tooling standard practices and
procedures
- Support manufacturing related tooling activities, both internal
and external
- Support drafting of standards related to assembly tooling
design What you can contribute:
- Bachelor s degree in a relevant engineering field
- A minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing or tooling design
experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience
may be considered)
- Must have experience with composite tooling design and
fabrication
- Tool design experience with development programs
- Experience with prototyping
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to improve the
assembly and FAL process of a product (Design for
Manufacturing)
- Experience in aviation, automotive, and/or the mobility space
with UAS or UAM
- LEAN/Six Sigma experience and qualifications
- Ability to communicate implementation of tooling, such as work
instructions, tool usage instructions, tooling drawings, safety
information, and/or new product integration plan
- Highly collaborative and works well both independently and with
a team
- Internal and external customer focus
- Ability to solve complex mechanical design problems
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and
accomplish work within time constraints
- Self-motivated and forward-thinking personality
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
- Master s degree
- Experience in aviation certification environment
- Experience in high-rate composite fabrication methods
- Project management experience
- Proficient with model-based definition, drafting and GD&T
