Job Description:

RxSight has commercialized the world's first and only adjustable intraocular lens (IOL) that is customized after cataract surgery. This intraocular lens can be adjusted non-invasively while in the eye, allowing the post-cataract surgery patient to see clearly at distance without the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses. The application of light to the implanted Light Adjustable Lens (LAL---) will fine-tune the patient's lens power to their specific visual need. This technology sets the stage for a series of lens products from RxSight that will have widespread application in cataract and refractive surgery as well as outside the field of medicine.OVERVIEW:The Mechanical Engineer will be part of the development team for our Light Delivery Device and Light Adjustable Lens technology. Responsibilities will include design and development of components related to the Light Delivery Device. This Mechanical Engineer will demonstrate validity of design and manufacturing processes including tooling and fixtures, assembly process development/qualification, and process documentation.This individual will also own key accessories to the LDD, and regularly have interaction with the other functions including but not limited to Operations, Quality, and Regulatory. It is expected that this individual will have the depth and breadth of experience and judgment to make contributions to the overall Light Delivery Device and Light Adjustable Lens technologies.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support development of Light Delivery Device (part design, dimensioning, tolerancing, and detailing) and accessories
  • Perform detailed analyses to ensure product performance, reliability and manufacturability in addition to documenting the design and development.
  • Develop tools and fixtures to support device assembly and performance testing and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of manufacturing validation processes and test methods
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, as well as ensure business continuity and regulatory compliance.
  • Leads and assists in the development of engineering documents.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Expert in SolidWorks
    • Familiar with tolerance analysis using Solidworks
    • Familiar with creating drawings for manufacturability with GD&T
    • Familiar with CAD vault systems and logic (desired)
    • Experience with manufacturing process development for medical equipment (desired)
    • Design for manufacturability, assembly, and / or reliability
    • Design control; verification and validation, design transfer.
    • Effective analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to apply creative solutions to challenges.
    • The ability to establish priorities and build enthusiasm for projects.
    • Excellent communication skills in both oral and written formats, as well as excellent listening and problem solving skills.
    • The ability to interface effectively with all levels and functions within the organization.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
      • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 2 or more years of experience, minimum of 2 years in the medical device industry.
      • Familiar with design practices for ophthalmic medical devices in an FDA-regulated environment and design for manufacturing process (desired).
      • Training to be completed per the training plan for this position as maintained in the document control system. COMPUTER SKILLS:
