Job Description:
Description Disaster Case Manager The Disaster Case Manager
(DCM) will assist survivors of the January 2025 wildfires
(Palisades and Eaton Fires). The DCM will operate under the UMCOR
(United Methodist Committee on Recovery) model for DCM by working
with survivors during their recovery by developing a step-by-step
general plan to achieve the survivor’s goals. The survivor is the
primary person responsible for their recovery, the DCM is there to
help, guide and help find resources to achieve the plan. The DCM
does not make promises to the survivor that the DCM will not be
able to complete with the survivor or be that all unmet needs will
be fulfilled. The DCM’s daily supervision and assignment of
survivors will be done by the DCM Supervisor - (DCM Supervisor)
with weekly reporting to the Conference Disaster Response
Coordinator by the DCM Supervisor. Must reside in the Los Angeles
area, office is located in Pasadena with work commitments also
residing in the Altadena area (relocation expenses are not
provided). Essential Functions: Listening to the survivor. Discern
with the survivor what their recovery looks like. Develop a plan
with the survivor of steps needed to be done to achieve their
primary goals. Collaborate with the survivor to achieve goals.
Gather potential resources that may help the survivor complete
tasks, steps, and milestones to reach primary goal. Assist the
survivor during their recovery. Assist in preparation of FEMA
and/or insurance application, appeals or supplemental information
as needed. Assist in preparation of applications for additional
assistance opportunities as appropriate. Document survivor
information and status. DCM will document the goal, plan steps,
achievement of steps, resources referred to or applied to for the
survivor, resources received by the survivor, and final case notes.
Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum High School
Diploma or equivalent is required. Alignment with the mission of
The United Methodist Church, the vision of the California-Pacific
Annual Conference. Teamwork and decision-making habits consistent
with Conference core values and expectations. Experience using
Excel, Outlook, Teams, Google Voice, Slack and WhatsApp. Reliable
vehicle and availability to drive long distances. Able to work in
office a minimum of two days a week in Pasadena. Excellent writing
skills, time management and organizational skills. Teamwork and

description. Additional Considerations: Up to $75,213.00 per year
